What's On

On 18 February, the Central Government issued the "Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area." This crucial document provides a guideline to the development of the GBA over the next 15 years, and names Hong Kong, Macao, Guangzhou and Shenzhen as the "core cities" in the region. The plan points to Hong Kong's advantages in finance, shipping, trade, aviation and professional services, and makes clear that the city will play a decisive role in the development of the GBA.

To help members seize the opportunities brought by the plan, the Chamber is organising a GBA Forum to tap the expertise of senior government officials and representatives from companies that are already successfully operating in the region. It will be followed by a cocktail reception to give members the opportunity to network with officials and other businesspeople.

We are delighted to have invited Patrick Nip, Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs; Liao Jingshan, Director General of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province; and George Leung, Advisor, Asia-Pacific of HSBC, to speak at the event.

On the entrepreneur side, the Chamber has invited a number of representatives from businesses that are experienced in the GBA and are members of the CPPCC, with the support of The Association of the Hong Kong Members of Guangdong's Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Committees. They will share their opinions on the plan and help members to learn more about the potential and characteristics of the GBA.
