Europe could be in for a year of upheaval as uncertainty swirls. Besides Brexit, the continent also faces political turmoil in Italy, European Parliamentary elections and the selection of a new European Central Bank President.
The continent's economy remains healthy but has slowed slightly. Growth in the 19 countries that use the euro dropped from a decade-high of 2.4% in 2017 to an estimated 2.1% last year. Does this point to a further slowdown, or will growth continue at a steady rate?
The Europe Committee has invited Dr Alicia Garcia-Herrero, Chief Economist for Asia Pacific at Natixis, to give an overview of the economic outlook for Europe in the coming year. At the roundtable luncheon, Dr Garcia-Herrero will share her insights and discuss the challenges ahead for the continent amid the current political uncertainty.
