Supply Chains Digitalisation: The Future of Freight & Logistics

Compared to other industries, the freight and logistics sectors have only recently begun to incorporate new technologies into their operations. At a webinar on 29 June, IBM’s Karen Ko, Chris Leung and Jenny Zhang shared their insights on how companies can effectively leverage technologies like blockchain and the Internet of Things to promote information sharing and collaboration across the supply chains, thereby encouraging innovation to transform the industry for the better. They also said that the pandemic had highlighted the need for companies to adapt and modernize quickly to keep their operations running and better weather the crisis.  Several characteristics of blockchain – enhanced privacy, greater transparency and the immutability of records – make it an advantageous technology for the freight and logistics industry.

Accelerate Digital Transformation in Smart Manufacturing with Artificial Intelligence

Under the banner of Industry 4.0, manufacturers are undergoing a tremendous transformation with the adoption of the Internet of Things (IoT), AI and robotics. And Samson Tai, Chief Technologist of IBM Innovation Network, discussed how producers can speed up the delivery of actionable insights using the latest AI architecture.

The Rise of the Cognitive Era: When AI Beats the Go Master

Marking the beginning of a new era of technology, artificial intelligence (AI) has been progressing rapidly in recent years. Jerry Shum, Watson Solutions Architect of IBM, spoke about the latest development and applications of AI at a roundtable luncheon on 14 July. With reference to user case studies, he illustrated the capabilities of cognitive systems, such as IBM Watson, to analyze massive amounts of data, and connect and interact with humans. He also talked about the benefits of the vast applications of AI in enhancing customer experience and business development.
