Exploring Collaboration with Egypt
Anas Shadi, Deputy Consul General of Egypt in Hong Kong, visited the Chamber this week to share exciting developments from the country.
He highlighted the booming Suez Canal Industrial Zone – a strategic gateway for factories exporting to Europe. Emphasizing Egypt’s strategic pivot to diversify its economic partnerships, Shadi said there was a keen focus on attracting Chinese investment to promote trade and collaboration with Hong Kong.
The meeting explored how Egyptian companies can leverage Hong Kong as a gateway to access the vast Chinese Mainland, as well as Asian markets, with a particular focus on high-demand exports such as citrus and other agricultural products.
Egypt also has considerable potential for tourism expansion. With only 3,000 visitors from Hong Kong annually, numbers can be boosted through enhanced marketing and strategic partnerships between the two economies.
