Key findings of the Report on 2023 Manpower Projection and updates on Hong Kong’s Labour Market
The Government regularly conducts manpower projection exercises to assess future trends in manpower supply and demand at a macro level. The latest projection, using 2023 as the base year, forecasts Hong Kong’s manpower landscape through 2028.
At the Manpower Committee meeting on 5 June, Roy Chan, Head of the Research Unit at the Labour and Welfare Bureau (LWB), presented key findings from the 2023 Manpower Projection Report. He outlined significant trends shaping the future manpower outlook and shared insights into the projected landscape for 2028, including the most in-demand occupations and skills. Members were informed that the LWB will commence a mid-term update of the 2023 Manpower Projection in late 2025, utilizing the latest data to refine forecasts for 2028.
During the same meeting, Jeff Tang was re-elected as Chairman. Fanny Lau and Teddy Liu were newly elected as Vice Chairmen.
