Colin Pou, Executive Director, Financial Infrastructure, and Wilson Pang, Senior Manager, Fintech Facilitation Office, from HKMA discussed their work on the “Commercial Data Interchange" at the SME Committee meeting on 1 December. This Interchange is a consent-based piece of financial infrastructure that will enable more secure and efficient data flow between banks and sources of commercial data. It has the potential to solve some of the long-standing pain points in SME financing by allowing SMEs to use their own data to improve their access to financial services.

David Dodwell, Executive Director of the Hong Kong-APEC Trade Policy Group, also joined the meeting along with Daniel Lam and Clement Tang, respectively CEO and Chief Operations Officer of eBRAM Centre. They introduced the eBRAM International Online Dispute Resolution Centre, an independent and not-for-profit organization that aims to enhance Hong Kong’s arbitration and mediation services. The Centre makes use of innovative technologies to build capacity to meet the rapidly expanding demand for dispute resolution services across the border, and to help Hong Kong to become a hub for “LawTech.”
