Earlier this year HKEX proposed to mandate all Hong Kong listed companies to provide climate-related disclosures in their ESG reports. The mandatory disclosure rules, if adopted, will come into effect as soon as 1 January 2024.

At a seminar on 17 October, Kelly Lee, HKEX’s Senior Vice President of Policy and Secretariat Services, Listing, shared the details of the proposals and what they mean to businesses. She was then joined by Alexander Chan, Invesco's Head of ESG Client Strategy APAC, and Pat Woo, KPMG China's Partner and Head of ESG, Hong Kong, for a panel discussion on the challenges and best practices in ESG reporting, as well as support measures for SMEs to accelerate their ESG transition.
