Implications of the New PRC Civil Code on Foreign Investors
When the new Civil Code took effect on 1 January, it established a new legal framework in Mainland China that will affect companies operating there.
Speaking at a Chamber webinar on 29 April, Dr Dennis Tang, Registered Foreign Lawyer (China) of ONC Lawyers, explained the status, content and implications of the Civil Code for foreign investors. Dr Tang reminded foreign investors that environmental protection awareness was needed, so as to avoid punitive damages. He also said that intellectual property rights would be better protected under the Code.
