Consul General of Malaysia Yap Wei Sin, Trade Commissioner Noor Ezzwanee, and a panel of experts on Malaysia's economy and trade and investment climate, highlighted business and investment opportunities in the country at a Chamber webinar 10 June. 

Maybank Chief Economist Suhaimi Bin Ilias, speaking from Kuala Lumpur, said despite the pandemic significantly hitting Malaysia, the Government rolled out two rounds of economic stimulus packages in March and June. He was confident that these would help stabilize the country’s economy as early as Q1 2021. 

JC Legal Principal Janice Chew and Hartamas Real Estate Hong Kong Associate Director Nick Siew explained how to set up a business in the country, and introduced the popular Malaysia My Second Home scheme. They said given the stagnant property market in Malaysia for the past five years, and the Ringget at a 10-year low, Malaysian real estate was attracting more investors. Finally, CG Yap and Trade Commissioner Ezzwanee encouraged members looking to invest in Malaysia to find suitable partners in the country to work with. There is a growing demand for oil and gas equipment, medical devices and lifestyle products.
