How Can Hong Kong Achieve Further Sustainability?
John Batten, Global Cities Director of Arcadis, presented the firm’s Sustainable Cities Index 2018 at a Chamber luncheon on 30 October. This report ranks 100 global cities according to their performance in environmental, social and economic matters. At the luncheon, John focused on analysing the sustainability scorecard of Hong Kong. With its well-established infrastructure and favorable business environment, Hong Kong has been ranked as one of the most sustainable cities in Asia. However, he also pointed out that severe air pollution and unaffordable housing have hindered the city's sustainable development. Therefore, these problems should be targeted as a priority to improve the city's sustainable development.
