At a Chamber roundtable luncheon on 14 June, Wendy Liu, Managing Director, Head of China Equity Research & Chief Equity Strategist, Greater China, at Nomura International (Hong Kong) Ltd, shared her views and insights on the latest developments in trade relations between Mainland China and the United States. According to the figures, total retail sales in Mainland China increased from about US$1 trillion in January 2007 to around US$5 trillion in January 2018, almost the same as in the U.S. The cumulative real growth in Gross National Income per capita in the Mainland and the U.S. in 2016 were 104% and 7%, respectively.
