YEC Enjoys Lunch with Dr Bernard Chan

Members of the Chamber’s Young Executives Club had lunch with Dr Bernard Chan Pak-li, Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, on 18 March at the Artyzen Club. During the lunch, they discussed the development of the Greater Bay Area, how to attract foreign start-ups and tech talent to Hong Kong, and initiatives to improve the city’s competitiveness.

Dr Chan explained that the administration was working with other governments on initiatives including free-trade and investment agreements, with the aim of helping local businesses access markets in Belt and Road countries. He added that several schemes had been launched to attract talent to Hong Kong including the Innovation and Technology Fund, while InvestHK had set up a dedicated fintech team to attract enterprises in this space to set up or expand in Hong Kong.
