Inauguration of Biz Expands Easy Square
SME Committee Vice Chairmen Thomas Su and Vikky Tam attended the inauguration of Biz Expands Easy Square (BEE2) and Voice of Customer Announcement on 16 January, which was organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council. BEE2 aims to offer a platform that enhances the accessibility of funding resources for SMEs and startup.
Meeting with the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin
It was a pleasure to welcome António Lei, Director of the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, on 13 October. Lei and his delegation were received by Chairman Betty Yuen, CEO Patrick Yeung, Vice-Chairman of China Committee Edmond Yew and members.
Lei briefly introduced the features of the Cooperation Zone, especially the “tier-specific” management policy, which fosters talent and capital flow between Macao and Hengqin. The two sides also discussed the business development of Hong Kong enterprises in the Cooperation Zone, in areas such as research and innovation, medical industry, data centres, etc.
The Cooperation Zone is committed to establishing and improving a new system for joint consultation, joint construction, joint management, and common use between Guangdong and Macao.
Meeting with Delegation from Guangming

Mai Xiongguang, Secretary-General of Shenzhen Guangming District, led a delegation to the Chamber on 5 July, where they were received by Felix Lee, Vice Chairman of the China Committee.
Mai shared on the development of Guangming Science City, which is due to be completed at the end of this year. A key part of Shenzhen’s status as a comprehensive national science centre, it is expected to become a world-class hub by 2025. Guangming District also has a solid industrial foundation, making it a strategic base for different industries looking to relocate their headquarters. To protect the area’s abundant ecological and water resources, authorities are actively promoting green and low-carbon development to protect the environment.
SME Committee Vice Chairman Thomas Su, a board member of the VTC Merchandise Trading and E-commerce Training Board, attended the VTC Welcoming Reception on 9 May.
Jilin Department of Commerce Visits Chamber
Wang Mingkui, Vice Director at the Department of Commerce, Jilin Province, led a delegation to visit the Chamber on January 10 where they were welcomed by China Committee Vice Chairman Siu Hung Chan and members. Jilin is a key agricultural province in China, and is rich in natural resources. The delegation was comprised of several Jilin enterprises engaged in the production of agricultural goods and traditional Chinese medicine. Both parties exchanged views on the economic outlook for the Mainland, Hong Kong and globally, as well as discussed how Hong Kong and Jilin enterprises could expand their cooperation.
