On 16 September, our members had the opportunity to visit the innovative EcoBricks Factory, located in Yuen Long. This pioneering facility is a one of its kind in Hong Kong, successfully turning recycled plastics into concrete bricks that meet regulatory standards.

Led by Environment and Sustainability Committee Vice-chairman Melanie Kwok, the visit highlighted the pressing issue of plastic waste, which often ends up in landfills due to the high cost of recycling. EcoBricks has identified a lucrative niche in the market, offering a sustainable solution for companies seeking alternatives to landfill waste disposal. By collecting and transforming waste plastics into valuable bricks, EcoBricks reduces the environmental impact of incineration, which produces excessive carbon emissions, toxic fumes, and contaminated wastewater.

EcoBricks' approach not only reduces waste but also creates a new revenue stream from materials that would otherwise be discarded.
