Key Geopolitical Risks to Watch in 2025

In collaboration with the European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, HKGCC’s Europe Committee hosted a briefing and networking session on 1 April with a visiting delegation of experts from Verisk Maplecroft, including Reema Bhattacharya, Head of Asia Risk Insight; Kaho Yu, Head of Energy and Resources; and Arun Pillai-Essex, Principal Consultant, APAC. The event, held under Chatham House Rules, featured an insightful briefing on the potential implications of rising geopolitical tensions, including U.S. trade actions, for businesses in Asia and how this is transforming the region’s operating environment.

Through interactive sessions and case studies, members from both chambers engaged in open discussions on strategies to identify and mitigate geopolitical risks. They also enjoyed a relaxing evening of networking over drinks and canapés.

Cheers, Italian Friends!

We had a great time at the HKGCC and Italian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) joint happy hour on February 27 in Central. Europe Committee Chairman Alfonso Ballesteros and ICC General Manager Caterina Bernardini de Pace welcomed members and raised a glass to the strong ties between Hong Kong and Italy.

Members from both chambers took the opportunity to connect and catch up on the latest developments in Hong Kong-Italian businesses over drinks and canapés. Keep an eye on our website for details about our next networking event.

Sustainable Infrastructure Development in Hong Kong

Hong Kong boasts several notable records, one of the latest being Hong Kong’s deepest, longest and largest sub-sea road tunnel connecting Tuen Mun to the Lap Kok Link. The extraordinary project was carried out by Dragages Hong Kong.

Delving into the company’s technology and philosophy, Etienne Fayette, Head of Digital, Innovation and Transformation at Dragages Hong Kong, spoke at the Europe Committee meeting on 25 February, along with Kelvin Choi, Deputy Engineering Director.

Reducing carbon emissions in construction is a collective goal that Dragages Hong Kong shares with industry players in both the public and private sectors. Fayette said the company incorporates eco-design and low-carbon materials into its operations to promote sustainable building practices and actively supports biodiversity at its worksites. He also noted that the company had gained tangible benefits from integrating big data and AI into construction operations, enhancing safety and reliability.
