Student Associate Club

Terms of Reference

PURPOSE
HKGCC’s Student Associate Club aims to strengthen student members' connections with the business sector through networking events and other activities, which will offer learning opportunities for student members to prepare for their future careers.

HKGCC’s Student Associate Club enhances the YEC’s existing framework through YEC’s guidance, support, and connections, enabling knowledge and experience sharing with students in local tertiary education.

MEMBERSHIP
The Student Associate Club consists of students from local higher education institutions who are members of the Chamber.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The Executive Committee of the Club is formed voluntarily and its members are chosen through interviews. It is responsible for leading the union, organizing activities and liaising with external parties under the guidance and support of YEC.

The Executive Committee shall comprise one Chief Ambassador, two Deputy Ambassadors, and no more than 10 other Executive Committee members.

WORK
Initiatives and activities organized by the Club should aim to strengthen links between student members and the Chamber, offering learning opportunities and a platform for a smoother transition into the workplace.

Initiatives and activities organized by the Club shall collaborate with YEC to create synergies.

The Club's individual activities are recommended around 2-4 times a year.

The nature of the Club activities should align with the Chamber’s image and reputation. These activities are conducted on a self-financed or cost-recovery basis, supplemented by programme charges, fundraising and sponsorship.

TERM OF OFFICE
The term of office for Chief Ambassadors and Deputy Ambassadors is one year. They are eligible for re-appointment for another term after an interview. The Chairman should not serve longer than two years.

MEMBERS’ DUTIES
Members of the Executive Committee are obliged to attend Committee meetings and participate in activities initiated or endorsed by the Club. Those who fail to attend two consecutive meetings may be asked to resign. If a member fails to attend four consecutive meetings, they shall be considered to have resigned.

COMMITTEE MEETING
Regular committee meetings shall be held twice a year. Ad hoc meetings will be arranged as needed to organize activities.
