Data, AI and SaaS in Hong Kong Logistics

At the committee meeting on 9 June 2026, KLN Logistics (Hong Kong) Limited executives Cruz Zhu, General Manager of Electronics Technology & Industrial, and Patrick Liu, Lead Product Manager of Global IT, shared insights on how Hong Kong logistics companies can harness data, AI and SaaS to move beyond manual, paper-based operations and capture Greater Bay Area opportunities.

They framed AI as the destination, data as the fuel and SaaS as the vehicle, showing how clean, connected data unlocks visibility and enables smarter decision-making rather than purely cost cutting.

The session concluded with a lively Q&A, where speakers addressed common concerns among SME, including practical setup and onboarding costs for smaller operators and how data security is managed in modern cloud and integration architectures.

Elections were also held, with Wilson Kwong re-elected Chairman and Samuel Lau and Horace Lo re-elected Vice Chairmen.

Maritime and Logistics Development of Hong Kong

At the 27 March Committee meeting, Permanent Secretary for Transport and Logistics Vic Yau reaffirmed Hong Kong’s position as a premier maritime centre. While navigating challenges - from regional competition to geopolitical shifts - our focus remains on resilience and innovation.

The Transport and Logistics Bureau is actively advancing several key initiatives, including intermodal links, green and smart transitions, tax and registration incentives, and the Port Community System. A special thanks to our attendees for their substantive insights and practical perspectives.

A unique experience at MTR Tsing Yi Operations Control Centre

Visit to MTR Tsing Yi Operations Control Centre

HKGCC members went on an exclusive guided tour of the MTR Tsing Yi Operations Control Centre (OCC), led by Transport and Logistics Committee Chairman Wilson Kwong. The OCC functions as the central command hub, overseeing millions of passengers daily across Hong Kong’s heavy rail stations.

The behind-the-scenes tour provided an in-depth understanding of how the OCC operates as the nerve centre of Hong Kong’s MTR railway network, which is renowned for being one of the most reliable and efficient in the world. The OCC is responsible for coordinating train operations, managing incidents and disseminating real-time information.  Members learnt about the sophisticated monitoring and communication systems, as well as the operational protocols designed to maintain uninterrupted service.

The subsequent Q&A session included discussions on data security within the railway network and the use of advanced technology in daily operations. We were also introduced to MTR’s smart and sustainable initiatives, such as the MTR Network Dashboard and the Train Car Loading Indicator system, which enhance transparency and improve commuter experience.

The visit ended at the viewing gallery, offering a bird’s-eye view of the OCC’s real-time operations to keep Hong Kong moving smoothly.
