The Hong Kong Student Work Placement lasts 6 months and allows you to apply your academic knowledge in a real-world banking environment, make meaningful contributions to our teams, and build the professional and personal skills you’ll need for your future career.
Business areas: Commercial Banking, Wealth and Personal Banking, Insurance (including Actuarial), Group Infrastructure, Operating Excellence, Corporate and Institutional Banking, and International Wealth and Premier Banking Duration: 6 Months Start Date: July 2026 Location: Hong Kong SAR Application close: 30 April 2026

What you’ll do
You’ll gain hands-on exposure to real HSBC projects, develop workplace confidence and build skills like teamwork, communication, organisation and stakeholder interaction. You’ll learn from experienced professionals and get valuable insight into how HSBC operates day-to-day.
Across 6 months, you’ll:
• Gain practical experience that complements your academic studies • Take on real responsibilities and contribute to meaningful projects • Apply both your behavioural skills and academic knowledge to create value for HSBC • Be recognised for who you are and the contribution you make
For year 1 and 2 students, this is a chance to explore financial services and experience HSBC early in your academic journey.
For penultimate year students, this placement is a valuable step before applying to join HSBC after graduation.

Requirements: • Available to work full-time between July 2026 and Dec 2026. • Preferably undergraduate students from any degree discipline graduating in 2027, 2028 or 2029. • Have well-developed language skills in English (Cantonese and Putonghua would be advantageous). • Have solid PC skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. • Have additional PC skills in Excel (Macro), Access and Projects, and Chinese typing skills would be advantageous. • Hong Kong SAR nationals who have the legal right to work in Hong Kong.
