Company Background

Yau Wing Co Ltd was founded in 1954 by Dr Henry Fok Ying Tung. It commenced business as a civil and marine engineering contracting company. It was included in Group C (the highest group) of qualified harbour and marine contractors recognized by the Hong Kong Government. Among contracts successfully completed by the company are the Large Scale Test Mount at the Plover Cove Dam and Dredging, Reclamation and Ancillary Works for the Brunei Deep Water Port Scheme (in Joint Venture with Gammon South East Asia Berhad).

The Company was also involved in the construction and repair of marine engineering equipment and vessels such as dredgers, barges and hoppers for its own use and to meet orders from clients. The company had successfully developed its high technique in the building of high-speed aluminum vessels such as hydrofoils and catermarans.

Since the adoption of the Opening Up Policy in mainland China, Yau Wing Co Ltd has been transformed into a holding company for some of the Fok Group's investments in the Pearl River Delta area of the Guangdong Province, in the area of property development, transportation facilities, shipbuilding of steel and aluminum vessels, and the manufacture of containers.
