Company Background

The Kowloon Motor Bus Co. (1933) Ltd. (“KMB”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Transport International Holdings Limited and its flagship, has been providing extensive franchised public bus services in Hong Kong since 1933, making significant contributions to the city’s connectivity and mobility. Currently, KMB is the largest bus operator in Hong Kong.

KMB was the first public bus company in Hong Kong to obtain both International Organisation for Standardisation (“ISO”) 9001 quality management system certification and ISO 14001 environmental management system certification, a resounding endorsement of its high management and operational standards. In August 2012, KMB’s Operations Division was awarded Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Services (“OHSAS”) 18001 certification for the implementation of an effective risk control system ensuring the highest level of occupational health and safety as well as sustainable operations.

KMB makes a key contribution to Hong Kong’s economic and social vitality by providing an efficient and high quality public bus service which meets the needs of the travelling public.

When KMB was founded, its bus fleet consisted of 110 small single-deck buses. Today, KMB is the largest bus operator in Hong Kong with a fleet of over 3,800 air-conditioned buses. With a workforce of about 12,000 employees, KMB operates a network of some 400 bus routes serving approximately 2.6 million passenger-trips each day. KMB has played an active part in the development of Hong Kong for more than 80 years, becoming one of the world’s largest public bus companies and gaining recognition as an international leader in public bus transportation.
