Company Background

The Company was incorporated in 1965 with franchise to build and operate the Cross Harbour Tunnel until 1999. During the period 1999-2006, the Company, through an associate, Hong Kong Tunnels & Highways Management, provided management services to the tunnel. From 2006 onwards, such management services are provided by another associate of the Company, Hong Kong Transport, Logistics and Management Co. Ltd., under a renewable Management, Operations and Maintenance Contract with the Government. The Company has also operated three driver-training centres in Hong Kong through its subsidiary, The Hong Kong School of Motoring, since 1982. In 1998, Autopass, a subsidiary of the company, formed a joint venture (Autotoll) with Electronic Toll Systems to operate an automatic toll collection system in Hong Kong. In 1993, the Company, through an associate, Western Harbour Tunnel, was granted a franchise to construct and operate the Western Harbour Crossing until 2023. In 2001, Prestige Properties Holdings (later renamed as Y T Realty Group, HKSE: 75) acquired the then entire 26.70% equity interest in the Company from Wharf. In 2008 The Company acquired 39.5% interest in Tate's Cairn Tunnel Company Limited.

Business Activities

The principal activities of the Cross-Harbour (Holdings) Limited are investments holding with emphasis in transport infrastructures. Such activities includes:

● 50% interest in the HK$7 billion Western Harbour Tunnel;
● 50% interest in the Hong Kong Transport, Logistcs and Management Co Ltd., which manages the busiest cross-harbour tunnel between Hong Kong and Kowloon at Hunghom (with an average throughput of over 120,000 vehicles) under a Management, Operation and Maintenance Contract awarded by the Government;
● 70% interest in the Hong Kong School of Motoring, which is a Government franchised school providing off-street driving lessons through its centers at Ap Lei Chau, Siu Lek Yuen and Yuen Long;
● 35% attributable interest in Autotoll Ltd., which operates an electronic toll collection system covering 10 tunnels and highways in the Hong Kong Special Administration Region.
