HKGCC Hosts Grand Opening Ceremony for Transformed Headquarters, Joined by Financial Secretary Paul Chan to Unveil a Modern, Future-Forward Business Hub

For Immediate Release

The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) officially launched its newly transformed office space with a grand opening ceremony today. The prestigious event, attended by HKSAR Financial Secretary Paul Chan as the Guest of Honour, marks a significant milestone as a flagship initiative of the Chamber’s 165th-anniversary celebrations.

Delivering a congratulatory speech to mark the occasion, Financial Secretary joined the Chamber in unveiling a comprehensive renovation that delivers a modernised, sustainable, and technology-driven environment designed to serve as a dynamic business hub. The extensive upgrade reflects the HKGCC’s commitment to evolving alongside Hong Kong’s fast-paced business landscape, seamlessly blending the organisation’s rich heritage with a forward-looking vision.

Agnes Chan, Chairman of the HKGCC, emphasised the strategic importance of the redesign as the Chamber celebrates its legacy, “This opening is especially meaningful as it marks an important part of our 165th-anniversary celebrations,” said Chan. “This special moment not only reflects our rich heritage and enduring values, but also underscores our readiness to embrace the future – centred on innovation, sustainability, efficiency, and high-quality development. These priorities are closely aligned with Hong Kong’s Five-Year Plan and China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, which place strong emphasis on these areas.”

Chan highlighted the operational enhancements and the immediate benefits the new space brings to the Chamber’s membership, “Prior to the renovation, the members’ area had not been refreshed in a decade, while the back office had remained largely unchanged for more than 30 years. Recognising that both the physical space and the underlying technological systems were overdue for an upgrade, the Chamber embarked on a mission to revitalise its headquarters.” Chan continues, “The modernised facilities and smarter technology will deliver better, faster, and more seamless services and events for our members. Ultimately, it’s all about function meeting future – creating a dynamic, collaborative environment that reflects the Chamber’s leadership in Hong Kong’s business community.”

Advancing Sustainability and Wellness via BEAM Plus
A key pillar of the 165th-anniversary redesign is an enhanced focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility, creating a lighter footprint and a healthier workplace. The new layout maximises natural light through floor-to-ceiling vistas, energising the environment while reducing energy consumption and supporting employee wellbeing. Coupled with eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient systems, the upgraded headquarters underscores HKGCC’s commitment to championing green business practices and adopting the BEAM Plus standard to further strengthen environmental performance.

The New Members Lounge and Business Hub
The newly unveiled space is characterised by an open, modern design that is purposefully built for business. Among the most anticipated additions is the launch of the dedicated Members Lounge 1861. This premium space offers members a comfortable, sophisticated environment to network, conduct informal meetings, or recharge between engagements in the heart of the city.

“It’s brighter, bolder, and better. The open design enhances the experience for everyone, members and staff alike. Members can now host their own events, seminars, trainings and even AGMs, effectively turning our space into their premier business hub,” Chan added. “As we reach 165, we are doubling down on our role as Hong Kong’s leading business organisation – modern, agile, and visionary.”

The transformed HKGCC office is now officially open. With upgraded infrastructure, sustainable design features, and a collaborative layout, the Chamber is perfectly positioned to continue championing the interests of Hong Kong’s business community for the next 165 years and beyond.
