Champions Crowned at HKGCC Business Case Competition

For Immediate Release

The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) successfully concluded the seventh edition of its Business Case Competition (BCC) with a high-stakes final round held on March 20. A total of 12 university student teams competed in the 2025/2026 grand final, with five emerging as champions. All the winners received a one-year HKGCC student membership together with cash prizes.

The anniversary edition saw record-breaking engagement, drawing around 250 teams comprising some 830 students from tertiary institutions across Hong Kong. Since its launch in December 2025, the multi-stage programme provided a platform for emerging talent to tackle real-world business challenges. Participants benefited from invaluable opportunities to engage directly with business executives and refine their proposals through professional guidance.

The four sponsoring companies – MTR Corporation, New World Development Company Limited, Shun Tak Holdings Limited and The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) – each provided a real-world business case for students to address. Topics included low‑altitude mobility, sustainable urban development, theme park economy and destination development, as well as hydrogen energy and community engagement.

The judges praised the exceptionally high standard of the submissions, which rendered the selection of a champion particularly challenging. They also highlighted that the close collaboration and active engagement between participating companies and students, significantly enhanced project outcomes and deepened mutual understanding.

Each champion team received a cash prize of HK$20,000. The first and second runners-up teams were awarded HK$10,000 and HK$5,000, respectively. Following are the competition results:

About BCC
The primary objective of the Business Case Competition is to facilitate the exchange of ideas between students and industry professionals, encouraging participants to apply their academic knowledge to tackle contemporary business challenges. The competition offers students a unique opportunity to present their solutions to a panel of industry-leading experts -- an invaluable experience seldom available within academic settings.

Since its inception in 2019, the competition has engaged over 4,300 tertiary students and recent graduates, reinforcing HKGCC’s commitment to bridging the gap between the business community and educational institutions.

For over two decades, the Chamber has been dedicated to fostering collaboration between the business sector, secondary schools, and universities. This includes programs such as the Pitch Perfect Programme, now in its fifth year, which provides university students with invaluable training, mentorship, and internship opportunities to prepare for their careers.

Additionally, every year the Business-School Partnership Programme, established in August 2001, offer thousands of secondary students in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area valuable insights into the commercial world.
