HKGCC Launches Sixth Business Case Competition for Tertiary Students

For Immediate Release

The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) launched its sixth annual Business Case Competition on 4 November, aimed at fostering connections between tertiary students and the business community.

This year’s theme, “Shaping Business Futures with Innovation and Creativity,” encourages students to think outside the box and devise innovative solutions that can help businesses adapt and thrive in an ever-evolving market.

Participating students will tackle real-life business cases provided by four prominent HKGCC member companies, Chinachem Group, Jardine Matheson, MTR Corporation Ltd and SOCAM Development Ltd, enhancing the collaborative spirit of the initiative. This edition, which is sponsored by Swire, is unique as the Chamber has provided the fifth business case, focused on enhancing our workplace.

The primary objective of the Business Case Competition is to facilitate the exchange of ideas between students and industry professionals, encouraging participants to apply their academic knowledge to tackle contemporary business challenges. Students will have the unique opportunity to present their solutions to a panel of industry-leading experts, a valuable experience that is seldom available within academic settings.

Since its inception in 2019, the competition has engaged over 3,500 tertiary students and new graduates, reinforcing HKGCC’s commitment to bridging the gap between the business community and educational institutions.

For over two decades, the Chamber has been dedicated to fostering collaboration between the business community, secondary schools and universities, offering programs such as the Pitch Perfect Programme, now in its fourth year. This initiative provides university students with essential training, mentorship and internship opportunities to prepare for their careers. Additionally, the Business-School Partnership Programme, now in its 24th year, continues to offer thousands of secondary students in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area insights into the commercial world.
