For Immediate Release
Five university students battled through the final stages of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce’s (HKGCC) Pitch Perfect Programme last night (28 May) for the chance to be crowned Champion, as well as win a one-year HKGCC Student Membership, mentorship opportunities and cash prizes.
Chan Chun Yan, Natalie of The University of Hong Kong and Sarbiyeva Aruzhan of Hong Kong Baptist University were named Champions. The judges said they were impressed by all students’ consistent performances and hoped that the competition had given them valuable insights, which would help them to shine as future business leaders in Hong Kong.
Each of the five winners was awarded a cash prize of HK$8,000, while the overall champions each received an additional HK$10,000 prize and were named Chamber Student Ambassador. The champions also earned the opportunity to meet a distinguished business leader to learn about the corporate environment and gain advice on career development.
This year’s Pitch Perfect Programme, launched by HKGCC’s Young Executives Club, was sponsored by six companies – Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd, Ernst & Young, MTR Corporation Ltd, The Mills Fabrica (Nan Fung Group), New World Development Co Ltd and NEC Hong Kong Ltd – and supported by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau.
A total of 150 students from local tertiary institutions took part in training courses, company visits, internships and mentorships to develop essential workplace skills during the programmes’ four stages over the past three months. The activities culminated in the semi-final and final on 28 May, where students underwent hypothetical job interviews with representatives from sponsors and the Chamber’s leadership.
