The Evolution of Rail Technology

At the committee meeting on 17 September, H K Chan, Chief of Operations Engineering Services & Innovation at MTR Corporation shared with members on the latest development of MTR’s automation and safety system to enhance safety, optimize maintenance and improve overall passenger experience.

Chan shared insights into the company’s innovations, including the adoption of multiple e-payment systems and predictive real-time passenger information to enhance trip planning. He also highlighted the Performance & Health Monitoring System, which supports train maintenance and passenger safety, along with the exploration of alternative energy solutions and energy saving mechanisms to meet ESG targets.

Women Executives Club Breakfast Meeting Series: Mrs. Miranda Leung

The Women Executives Club was delighted to have Mrs. Miranda Leung, Former General Manager – Corporate Relations and member of the Executive Committee of the MTR Corporation, as the guest speaker at the WEC Breakfast Meeting held on 25 August. Miranda talked about her retirement life and advised members on how to prepare for retirement, such as adapting to changes in one’s daily life, money and medical insurance. Members also asked her about how to deal with PR crises.

Visit to MTR Corporation

Thirty members visited MTR's control facilities at Austin Station on 23 June, where they learned about the latest developments of the Express Rail Link (XRL) and the state of the art West Kowloon Terminus. David Sorton, Principle Engineer – XRL, the new terminus will be a landmark of a high-tech, environmentally friendly West Kowloon.” Participants then travelled on board the Airport Express to the MTR Operations Control Centre in Tsing Yi, and experienced the daily ins and outs of one of the world's busiest transport systems responsible for carrying over five million commuters on a daily basis.
