Visit to MTR Tsing Yi Operations Control Centre
HKGCC members went on an exclusive guided tour of the MTR Tsing Yi Operations Control Centre (OCC), led by Transport and Logistics Committee Chairman Wilson Kwong. The OCC functions as the central command hub, overseeing millions of passengers daily across Hong Kong’s heavy rail stations.
The behind-the-scenes tour provided an in-depth understanding of how the OCC operates as the nerve centre of Hong Kong’s MTR railway network, which is renowned for being one of the most reliable and efficient in the world. The OCC is responsible for coordinating train operations, managing incidents and disseminating real-time information. Members learnt about the sophisticated monitoring and communication systems, as well as the operational protocols designed to maintain uninterrupted service.
The subsequent Q&A session included discussions on data security within the railway network and the use of advanced technology in daily operations. We were also introduced to MTR’s smart and sustainable initiatives, such as the MTR Network Dashboard and the Train Car Loading Indicator system, which enhance transparency and improve commuter experience.
The visit ended at the viewing gallery, offering a bird’s-eye view of the OCC’s real-time operations to keep Hong Kong moving smoothly.
