Jing Liu, Chief Economist, Greater China, HSBC Global Investment Research, shared her insights on “China’s Economy Outlook 2026 and 15th Five-Year Plan” during the China Committee’s meeting on 13 March. She explained that the big takeaways from the 15th Five-Year Plan included tech self-reliance and innovation (including AI), industrial upgrading, a stronger unified domestic market, services-sector expansion and openingup. She believes these initiatives will support China’s efforts to become more business-driven and shift its exports and services higher up the value chain.
