Simon Ng, CEO of the Business Environment Council, discussed Hong Kong’s circular economy and waste management at the Environment and Sustainability Committee Meeting held on 16 October 2025.

Assessing global and local trends, Simon stated that, despite recognized benefits, Hong Kong remains predominantly linear in its use of resources, with only modest improvements in circularity. Members examined waste disposal data, landfill reliance and legislative efforts such as the Waste Blueprint for Hong Kong 2035. He also highlighted new infrastructure projects, such as I.PARK and a large-scale EV battery recycling centre.
