Fair Play: Deciphering Hong Kong's Competition Ordinance

Since coming into effect in 2015, the Competition Ordinance has had quite an impact on the way companies in Hong Kong operate. As the law is still quite new, compliance can be a challenge. To help members understand the potential issues, two experts from Herbert Smith Freehills shared their insights into the new law at a webinar on 29 September.

Adelaide Luke, Head of Competition, Asia, and Associate Howard Chan discussed some of the common infringements of the competition law that they had seen to date, as well as the law’s Leniency, Cooperation and Settlement provisions. They also shared tips on how legal and compliance teams can help their company avoid falling foul of the law by developing a robust compliance programme, which should include risk assessment and antitrust compliance policies as well as regular training and practice.
