Digital Travel Forum: Success stories amid technology transformation
At the Digital Travel Forum on 28 March, experts shared their success stories on using technology to attract tourists. From a destination point of view, Yoshiko Iwamoto, Director of Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) and Tina Chao, General Manager of Marketing, Hong Kong Tourism Board, explained how they used developments including AI chatbots and virtual reality in their promotion campaigns.
Mike Orgill, General Manager for Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan at Airbnb, and Hillman Lam, General Manager, Hong Kong, Taiwan and International Business at Trip.com, discussed how their companies have stayed ahead of the curve as the sector has evolved. They agreed that the industry was becoming more experience-driven as travellers are increasingly looking for more personalized trips and are keen to seek out unusual destinations.
