2018/05/17 | Meeting with Hong Kong Myanmar Chamber of Commerce Albert Oung, Founding President of Hong Kong Myanmar Chamber of Commerce, visited the Chamber on 17 May and met with the Chamber’s Deputy CEO Watson Chan and Director for PR & Programs Malcolm Ainsworth to discuss an upcoming high-level delegation from Myanmar that will visit Hong Kong in June to explore Hong Kong-Myanmar collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative. It was agreed that the Chamber would co-organize a seminar in late June on Myanmar’s market potential.

2018/04/11 | Strengthening ties with the Philippines Rowel Barba, Undersecretary for the Competitiveness and Ease of Doing Business Group from the Department of Trade and Industry in the Philippines, visited the Chamber on 11 April. He and other members of the delegation were received by Chamber CEO Shirley Yuen, Chairman of the Asia & Africa Committee Behzad Mirzaei, Chairman of the China Committee Pang Chun Yu and members.
Barba introduced the work of the Group in boosting the country’s competitiveness, accelerating infrastructure development and facilitating e-commerce for businesses. He also expressed the Philippines’ desire to build stronger business ties with Hong Kong and Mainland China in light of the ASEAN-Hong Kong Free Trade Agreement, signed in November last year. He encouraged Hong Kong companies to import Philippine products, such as fruit and produce, and to outsource customer services and support to the country’s booming call center industry.

2018/03/26 | Meeting with Queensland Government Commissioner Julie-Anne Nichols, Commissioner, Hong Kong and Macao, Queensland Government, Trade & Investment Queensland, met with the Chamber’s Director for PR & Programs Malcolm Ainsworth on 26 March to discuss an upcoming delegation from Queensland that will visit Hong Kong in May to explore collaborating with Hong Kong businesses in the real estate, infrastructure, tourism and health care sectors.
