Innovation, Data & Communication Committee
Terms of Reference
1) Mission
To advise the Chamber via the General Committee and Directorate on
- The development, promotion and application of the innovation, data and communication (IDC) industries of Hong Kong; and
- The Chamber position on policies affecting these industries
- Issues relating to the development of Hong Kong as an international innovation & technology hub, as well as promotion of Hong Kong's innovation & technology industry to the Mainland (including Greater Bay Area) and international market.
2) Membership
- Membership is open to Chamber corporate members whose business is related to the IDC industries.
- Chamber individual associate members who wish to apply as observers to the Committee should belong to a company in the respective sectors.
- Committee membership is subject to agreement by the committee chairman and the Chamber CEO.
- Members should observe the "Guidelines for HKGCC Committees" and are encouraged to contribute actively to the committee.
3) Objectives
- To provide a forum for interaction among the IDC industries and the wider business community.
- To provide and manage a forum for exchange of views on business and policy/regulatory issues relating to IDC industries such as innovation model and management; applications of data and related security and integrity issues; responsible and ethnical AI development; and network communication adoption and applications.
- To organise relevant and appropriate functions and activities to support Hong Kong's development as a digital economy by adopting innovation, data driven process and advanced communication technologies.
- To assess the impact of, formulate positions on, and where necessary, make submissions in relation to government policies and consultations affecting IDC industries of Hong Kong.
- To contribute to the Chamber’s effort in driving cross-sectoral collaboration to develop HK as an international innovation and technology hub.
