What's On

While the meteoric rise of Mainland China tends to dominate conversations about Asia's emergence on the global stage, India's explosive economic growth, especially in its consumer market, has vaulted it into the ranks of the world's fastest growing nations.

Digitising India is one of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's major objectives in his drive to reform the country. In the four years of the Modi government to date, India's optical fibre network has grown to more than 2 million km from less than 400 km in 2013-14. From 2017 to 2021, India's internet retail sales are expected to more than double to over US$70 billion. The incredible potential of India's retail market may prove to be a golden opportunity.

The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, with the support of the Consulate General of India in Hong Kong, has organized the "ASEAN Series – Rising India" seminar to explore the opportunities that the country offers. Members will not only learn about India's business environment, but will also hear how overseas brands can enter this rapidly developing market.

Dr Jim Walker will discuss the potential of India and its growing economy. Dr Walker is renowned for his unique approach to analyzing economies, primarily in Asia. He has made a number of accurate predictions on economies in the region as well as globally, including calling the upswing in the Indian stock market in 2013.

Mr Bryan Kam, whose company specializes in cross-border e-commerce, will share with members his first-hand experience of introducing overseas brands to India. He will also discuss the challenges of the market and share some practical tips for success.

What opportunities exist for investors and businesspeople in India? How can foreign brands conquer this huge market? What is the key to succeeding in this South Asian giant?

Do not miss this opportunity to learn more about the fast growing Indian market.
