Pursuing Educational Excellence

The HKSAR Government, in its attempt to attract enterprises and talent, is committed to developing a vibrant international school sector to help meet demand for international school places from non-local families living in Hong Kong as well as those moving here for work or investment.

Among the 54 international schools in Hong Kong offering non-local curriculum to more than 40,000 students in the 2023/24 school year, Harrow International School Hong Kong is the first and only British international boarding and day school.

It is one of the many institutions owned and operated by Asia International School Limited (AISL). Founded in 1997, the AISL network extends from Thailand and the Mainland to Hong Kong and Japan, and includes Harrow International Schools (English National Curriculum, IGCSE and A Level), Harrow LiDe Schools (Bilingual Curriculum, IGCSE and A Level), Harrow Hong Kong Children School (Hong Kong Curriculum and DSE/IB), and Harrow Little Lions Early Years Centres.

“We draw on the 450-year heritage of Harrow School in the United Kingdom and embrace the Harrow School values of ‘courage, honour, humility and fellowship,’” said AISL Chairman Dr. Rosanna Wong. “We are committed to the highest standards and quality of education for all students, driven by our vision of delivering educational excellence for life and leadership.?

In AISL’s continued commitment to excel, it is essential to embrace values that foster growth and the development of students, values that have been the guiding principles of the AISL Group and its schools, which enjoy a close-knit partnership with Harrow School in the UK.

“Our schools are supported by rigorous educational quality assurance to ensure that the performance meets ‘Harrow standards.’ This assurance encompasses various aspects, from school management and teacher recruitment to monitoring teaching qualities and regular visits by governors,” Wong explained.

While academic excellence is prioritized, it is also equally important to cultivate leadership attributes and values to ensure students are prepared for life beyond the classroom.

“AISL’s success is attributed to our forward-looking approach that keeps our educational offerings abreast of trends. In its more than 25 years in Asia, the group has expanded to multiple major cities. With schools in Shenzhen and Zhuhai, it also has a presence in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), which is poised to become a hub for nurturing future talent,” Wong said. AISL has also received several awards and accolades over the years from Forbes as well as educational resources and service platforms such as KingLead and NewSchool Insight Media.

In recent years, with the rising demand for globalized talents in the Mainland, several new schools have been established in key cities, including Harrow Hong Kong Children School Shenzhen Qianhai that was opened in September this year. In an effort to contribute to China’s strategic development, Harrow LiDe Schools offer bilingual curriculum specifically designed for Chinese students, aiming at nurturing future leaders with a sense of national identity and a global outlook.

“Dedicated to offering a holistic education, we leverage on the diverse and culturally rich geographical location of each AISL Harrow School to enable students to explore their interests as well as maximize their capabilities in various domains such as music, sports, arts, technological innovation, and many other spheres,” Wong said. “We look forward to connecting with Hong Kong companies through HKGCC membership for collaborative opportunities, and to explore partnership potential to align with our strategic development in the GBA.”
