HKGCC Business Case Competition Final Winners Shine

Twelve university student teams competed in the final round of the 2023/24 HKGCC Business Case Competition, four of whom were crowned Champions today, to win overseas trips, a one-year HKGCC student membership, internship opportunities, and cash prizes.

More than 500 students from universities across Hong Kong formed around 140 teams to participate in the competition, which was launched on 16 October 2023.  The final on 26 January marked the fifth time that HKGCC has held the contest.

For this round, the theme was “Breaking Boundaries: Achieving Success with Creativity.” Each of the competition’s four sponsors – Chevalier Group, Chinachem Group, Jardine Matheson and Swire Pacific – set a specific business case for the students to come up with possible solutions. Topics ranged from smart city and community engagement to health-consciousness and sustainability.

The competition judges said it was inspiring to hear so many brilliant ideas from the students that combined creativity, innovation and textbook knowledge. The interaction between the companies and students also led to a deeper mutual understanding.

Each winning team of the individual company challenges received a cash prize of HK$30,000 or an overseas trip in Asia, and the chance to have an internship at the company. The first and second runners up each received HK$20,000 and HK$10,000 respectively. Following are the results of the competition:
