HKGCC Condemns Violence

For Immediate Release

The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) strongly condemns the violence and damage caused by a small number of extreme protestors that escalated into the storming of the Legislative Council on 1 July.

“People have the right to express their views, but violence should not under any circumstances be condoned. We have to respect and uphold the rule of law,” said HKGCC Chairman Aron Harilela.

“We fully respect freedom of expression and hope that calm can be restored by resolving differences through rational dialogue and constructive engagement,” he added.
