In response to the Chief Executive CY Leung’s announcement not to seek re-election, the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce wishes to make the following statement:
The Chamber understands and respects the Chief Executive’s decision not to seek re-election due to the immense stress that the job is having on his family.
Mr Leung has worked very hard to serve Hong Kong and we appreciate his passion and efforts.
Whether to run is eventually a personal decision. It is premature for the Chamber to comment on potential candidates until all interested individuals have declared their candidacy.
