HKGCC’s Statement on 2012 Constitutional Reform Package

For Immediate Release

The HKSAR government will put its political reform package for the selection of the Chief Executive and the elections of legislators in 2012 to a vote on June 23.

The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce will support changes in electoral arrangements that are in line with the principle of gradual and orderly progress towards democratic elections as laid down in the Basic Law.

The Chamber, and the business community in general, wants to see progress on political reforms; we do not want to see the process stall. The Chamber looks forward to the society’s consensus on political reform and further progress in our constitutional development.
