HKGCC Welcomes Extension of Special Loan Guarantee Scheme

For immediate release

The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce welcomes the extension of application period for the Special Loan Guarantee Scheme for another six months until December 31, 2010.

The Chamber has been asking the Government to extend the loan guarantee scheme to keep small-and-medium-sized companies viable during the prolonged recovery. In ensuring cash flow for SMEs, we seek to support them to rebuild their strength and to take advantage of growth opportunities, benefiting Hong Kong's economy as a whole. We are glad the Government has taken our proposal by extending the Special Loan Guarantee Scheme.

With the gradual recovery of economic situation in Hong Kong, the extension of Scheme for another six months facilitates a transition period much needed by the businesses to build up healthy cash-flow. We welcome the measures which assist SMEs to remain viable and continue to provide the employment backbone we need.
