It is perhaps not an overstatement to describe trade as being Hong Kong's lifeblood. A combination of man-made and natural events in recent times have however inflicted serious damage on supply chains around the world including those in Hong Kong. As the landscape for international trade undergoes a major reset, what can Hong Kong do to maintain its standing as a premier trading and sourcing hub?

Invest Hong Kong and KPMG have recently issued a research report called "The Future of Sourcing: 2021 and Beyond", which draws on industry experts' insights regarding the current state of the sourcing industry and the future of supply chains across China and the rest of Asia.

Join us on 3 December, when Anson Bailey, Head of Technology, Media and Telecommunications, Hong Kong/ Head of Consumer & Retail, ASPAC for KPMG China, will share key report findings and discuss Hong Kong's evolution as a sourcing hub. This will be followed by a panel discussion with Stephen Phillips, Director-General of Investment Promotion, Invest Hong Kong, Anne-Laure Descours, Chief Sourcing Officer, PUMA SE and Minesh Pore, Co-founder and CEO, The BuyHive, who will explore significance of technology and innovation to the future of supply chains. They will also share their thoughts on leveraging Hong Kong's advantages to position itself as the preferred gateway to the GBA market.

Stephen Phillips

Director-General of Investment Promotion, Invest Hong Kong

Mr Stephen Phillips is the Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK), the Government Department responsible for attracting and facilitating foreign direct investment into Hong Kong. Mr Phillips has served in senior positions in a number of private and public organisations. He lived and worked in Hong Kong from 1989 to 2004 holding senior investment banking positions with Deutsche and BZW/Barclays Capital before co-founding a Hong Kong-based group of companies providing IT, financial and consultancy services across Asia. In 2004, Mr Phillips joined UK Trade & Investment (now the UK's Department of International Trade) before becoming the Chief Executive of the China Britain Business Council in 2006, as well as Chairman of the EU China Business Association.

Anson Bailey

Head of Technology, Media & Telecommunications, Hong Kong/ Head of Consumer & Retail, ASPAC, KPMG China

Anson joined KPMG in Hong Kong in 1999 and is currently a Partner based in the Hong Kong office heading up the Consumer & Retail Practice in the ASPAC region. He is part of the KPMG Global Consumer & Retail Steering Group as well as being a member of the Global Technology Innovation Centre and the Cluster Leader for the Technology, Media & Telecoms Practice based in Hong Kong. Anson has been active in driving a number of thought leadership reports and executive briefings for senior executives covering innovation and consumers in China and across Asia. Anne-Laure Descours

Chief Sourcing Officer, PUMA SE

Anne Laure Descours has 30 years of experience in the textile and garment industries, including 25 in Asia, centered on sourcing and management of multicultural teams. Anne Laure joined PUMA SE in April 2012 as Director Apparel Sourcing APAC. In August 2013, she became Global Director Development & Sourcing Apparel and Accessories, as such leading teams both at Headquarter and over 15 Sourcing locations looking after Product Development, Production and Quality, and ensuring implementation of Puma's ethical and sustainability standards to all factories. In 2019, she was appointed as Chief Sourcing Officer and member of the Management Board, adding Footwear and Sustainability under her responsibility, she is primarily based in Hong Kong.

Minesh Pore

Co-founder and CEO, The BuyHive

Minesh Pore is the Co-Founder and CEO of The BuyHive, a platform to help buyers source products globally, via a network of experienced sourcing professionals. Minesh was the Director of International Business at Global Sources and Head of Startup Launchpad. He is a highly regarded global trade expert in leading multinational organizations in Innovation, corporate transformation, business development, and strategic planning. He has led sales and business development for more than two decades under global brands including Tata, Pico, Global Sources, and Intertek. He brings to BuyHive extensive experience in managing buyer-supplier relationships, along with his close connections with major firms along the length of the global supply chain, including manufacturers, compliance agencies, and logistics providers.
