The Hokkaido Government and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), in association with Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC), will host an "Invest Hokkaido Seminar" on 15 January, 2018. This event is opened to professionals and businesspersons who are interested in doing business in Hokkaido.

Hokkaido accounts for approximately one fifth of Japan's total landmass, has a population of 5.5 million, and has attracted global companies in a broad range of industries to invest and do business there.

The key focus is the tourism industry, including services such as resort development, hotel operation, food and beverage, transportation (air, sea and land), retail, food processing, travel agencies and interpretation.

In this seminar, the Governor of Hokkaido will introduce the charm and opportunities in Hokkaido. Two companies who have already invested in Hokkaido will also share their experiences with the audience. Members will also have the opportunity to arrange individual consultation meetings after the seminar to discuss specific points with Hokkaido officials.

We hope this event will inspire and encourage you to think about opportunities available in Hokkaido for 2018 and beyond. The event is free of charge for HKGCC members.

Tentative Program Rundown

After the seminar, there will be individual meetings between Hokkaido government officials and participating companies. Each meeting can be conducted with the assistance of an interpreter (English/Japanese) arranged by JETRO.

Notes - Bookings will only be confirmed with full payment, on a first-come-first-served basis.
- Substitution is allowed for corporate members only with advanced notice while walk-ins will normally not be accepted.
- Please note that the Chamber reserves the right to decline any booking or cancel the event without explanation. In any such instance, the event fee will be returned in full.
- There will be no refund for attendees cancelling or not showing up for the event unless the cancellation request is made in writing at least 3 days before the event, and in such cases the refund will be subjected to a 10% administration fee, or HK$100 deduction, whichever is higher.

- Priorities are given to corporate members. The decision to accept or decline any bookings shall be at the sole discretion of the Chamber.
