Hong Kong is currently the world's busiest air cargo gateway and one of the world's busiest passenger airports in terms of annual throughput at 4.5 million tonnes and 70.5 million passengers respectively in 2016. With the fast growing aviation industry and construction of the third Airport Runway System, these will create additional demand of aviation workforce and also provide employment opportunities for students studying aviation related programmes. In view of this development, both the Retail & Tourism and Manpower Committees are jointly organising a visit to the Institute of Vocational Education's (IVE) newly opened Simulated Airport Operations Centre on 9 March, 2018. The objective of the visit is to understand the collaboration works between IVE and Hong Kong International Aviation Academy as how to equip students with the professional knowledge and skill to overcome the future challenges and to sustain Hong Kong quality performance in the aviation industry.
Participants will also be able to experience the latest Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies in the VR/AR Learning Zone, which provides simulated workplace training for IVE students.
This visit is exclusive to HKGCC's members only. Due to limited places, participation is restricted to two representatives per member company. Additional places, if any, will be arranged subject to availability. The Chamber reserves the right to reject any application. The visit will be conducted in English. The tentative itinerary is as follows:
