[Webinar] Hong Kong Economy: What Shape Will the Recovery Take?
Kelvin Lau, Senior Economist for Greater China of Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong), discussed with members how Hong Kong’s economy had been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic at a Chamber webinar on 7 July.
Lau said that lingering headwinds would mean slow recovery ahead. He also said that he did not expect tourism and retail activities to recover quickly in the city, and that the unemployment rate would likely continue to rise to 6% to 7% in the second half of the year.
