Getting Prepared for Changes in China Customs Regulations

China's Customs Department is expected to tighten its law enforcement this year to make sure companies are complying with new regulations imposed as part of changes to the processing trade. As such, more goods are likely to be subject to customs duty and import VAT. Lawrence Cheung, Shenzhen Tax Managing Partner, and Daniel Tian, Tax Senior Manager, from Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, spoke at the Chamber's March 14 roundtable luncheon on the implications for Hong Kong Companies operating in the PRD, and how they need to prepare themselves.

Impact of the New Income Tax Law on Enterprises

The new Mainland Corporate Income Tax Law has been in effect for over two months in the Mainland. Some rules under the new law, such as transfer pricing, anti-avoidance, tax incentives and transitional rules have raised concerns among businessmen who are unfamiliar with the changes. Simon Wang and Philip Wong, Partners, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, briefed members on the key points of these rules at the Chamber's March 6 roundtable luncheon. (In Cantonese)
