2017 – A year of black swans or white swans for China?

China's GDP growth of 6.7% in 2016 confirmed a soft landing for the world's second-largest economy, despite mounting global uncertainties with some unforgettable black swans. Jackit Wong, Economist from Coface, Asia Pacific Region, shed light on the risks and opportunities for China in 2017, as well as for the U.S. and the Eurozone. Despite the moderate growth of China’s economy in 2016, we should still remain cautious on the macroeconomic outlook of China.

Will China Take Steps to Boost Growth in 2014?

With the double-digit growth era now firmly behind us, China’s economy in 2014 is expected to face a difficult year. Rocky Tung, Asia Pacific Economist of Coface, shared with members his projections for China’s economic development in 2014. He pointed out that changes in the macroeconomic environment in China have led to moderate growth in retail sales and fixed asset investment. In future, the growing domestic demand will be the key growth driver in China.

Behind the Growth: Credit Risks of Chinese Enterprises

With an outstanding growth of 8.7% of GDP in 2009, China is now the third largest economy in the world. However, the weak demand in most industrialised countries will continue to limit the export growth of China in 2010. Economists also give warning that possible bubbles in asset market could bring shock to the economy. Obviously, trading with Chinese companies is not at no risk. Xavier Farcot, Deputy Regional Managing Director, Greater China, Coface spoke at the Chamber's April 21 roundtable luncheon on Coface's economic outlook for China and the region.

Credit Risks of Chinese Enterprises in the Crisis

Xavier Farcot, Deputy Regional Managing Director Greater China, Coface, shared the findings at the Chamber's April 20 roundtable luncheon of a corporate payment survey of over 550 Chinese enterprises to investigate payment experiences of corporations.
