Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever, said businesses that ignore sustainable development are shooting themselves in the foot. Speaking to a full-house at the Chamber’s Distinguished Speakers Series luncheon, he said stakeholders are starting to realize that the cost of embarking on a sustainable development path sooner, rather than later, will save them money, boost profits, and make those businesses stronger.
