Environment & Sustainability Committee
Terms of Reference
1) Mission
To advise the General Committee and the Chamber Directorate on issues / areas pertinent to sustainability and its integration with the environmental, economic and social development in Hong Kong.
2) Membership
-
The Committee is open to Chamber corporate members in the environmental fields, and members possessing relevant knowledge.

Chamber individual associate members may apply as observers to the Committee.

Committee membership is subject to agreement by the committee's chairman and the Chamber CEO.

Members should observe the "Guidelines for HKGCC Committees".
3) Objectives

To study and advise the Chamber on the following issues:

Air quality
-
Climate change
-
Waste management & recycling
-
Green urban development, transport & buildings
-
Energy conservation & efficiency
-
Sustainable business practices
-
Eco-lifestyle, and such other environmental and sustainability related subjects as may arise from time to time.

To provide education, information and practical advice to Chamber members on environmental and sustainability issues through organizing seminars, roundtables, workshops or other activities.

To support environmental and sustainability projects of the Hong Kong SAR Government and non-Chamber organizations if appropriate.

To appoint issues coordinators, who have particular experience to lead working groups, to study issues and recommend Chamber policy/action.

To carry out any other related work at the request of the General Committee or Directorate.
