Background

The Northern Metropolis is positioned as the new development engine of Hong Kong, covering 30,000 hectares of land (about one-third of Hong Kong) to become the main source of land supply for housing, industry development, culture and leisure, with supporting transportation infrastructure development at large-scale. The Northern Metropolis development strategy promotes better livelihood and economic development through better home-job balance and quality life integration.

The Northern Metropolis development has become a key policy initiative since launch, and the acceleration of the development has become a focused topic in The Chief Executive’s 2025 Policy Address, introducing multi-pronged policies to promote market participation and expedite development.

New World Development Company Limited (“The Company”) holds approximately 12 million square feet of landbank within the Northern Metropolis, and participates actively in advancing the development with the construction of 2 projects having officially started. With the significant amount of land holding and projects within the Northern Metropolis in the pipeline, The Company is committed to contributing to expediting the development of Northern Metropolis, to provide quality housing in improving people’s livelihoods and Hong Kong’s economic development.

Expectations

A 5 to 10 slide presentation of their Submission produced in PDF format (for first round). The presentation should demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Northern Metropolis and the roles of key stakeholders including private developers in the development framework, and provide innovative and feasible recommendations to expedite the development of Northern Metropolis with reference to the below aspects:

  • A comprehensive knowledge in the Northern Metropolis development strategies and policy framework
  • Insightful suggestions to overcome the challenges in the current development models to remove barriers and ease restrictions to streamline Northern Metropolis development
  • An in-depth analysis in the 2 development projects of The Company on its success and contribution to the Northern Metropolis, and the takeaways to be applied to future developments
  • Insightful business models to bring together different stakeholders to expediate Northern Metropolis development, leveraging on the respective strengths and resources into meeting the collective and individual development needs
