Aron Harilela
Chairman of Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and
Chairman and CEO, Harilela Hotels

Dr. Aron Harilela is the Chairman & CEO of Harilela Hotels Limited, with responsibility for overseeing operations in hotels within S.E. Asia and Europe. He is also in charge of acquisitions for The Harilela Group. Aron joined the group at their London office in 1994 and subsequently joined the Hong Kong headquarters in 1996.

Established in 1959 and still wholly owned by the Harilela Family, The Harilela Group is a Hong Kong based private company with extensive experience in hotel investment and management. The Group owns and operates some 15 properties across Hong Kong, China, the Far East, Europe and U.S. The Group has recently started its own brand. The Hari, London opened its door in August 2016. The Hari, Hong Kong is scheduled to open early 2020. The Group’s hospitality portfolio includes alliances with The InterContinental Hotels Group, Onyx Hospitality Group and Hyatt Hotels.

Aron is the non-executive Chairman for Burson Marsteller in Hong Kong. He was recently conferred with an Honorary Fellowship by HKUST. He served on The Court of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology for over 10 years and is now an Honorary Court Member. He also served as a member on The Court of The University of Hong Kong from 2006 and is the Honorary Patron of The Hong Kong University Foundation. In September 2015, he was conferred with an Honorary University Fellowship by The University of Hong Kong. Earlier in January 2012, he was conferred with a University Fellowship from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, which is ranked number 2 amongst the world’s top hotel and tourism schools. He is also an Honorary Life Vice President of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Foundation. While in 2017 July he was conferred as an Honorary Fellow by the King’s College London.

On 1st July 2014, The Government of Hong Kong SAR appointed Aron as a Justice of the Peace. Aron is currently the Chairman of The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC). He is an appointed Investment Promotion Ambassador (IPA) for InvestHK since 2011. He was a Board Member of The Hong Kong Community Chest from 2012 - 2018. He is also the Honorary Secretary for the Business and Professional Federation. He is a Voting Member of the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Aron graduated with an honours Bachelor degree in Law and Politics, and a Ph.D. in Political Philosophy, both from the University of Hull, England. He has written and published several articles on contemporary social political thought.

Despite a tight schedule to meet his business, professional, civic and social commitments, Aron manages to find time to devote to recreational activities. He plays a fair game of tennis, is proficient at horseback riding and heads the Harilela team in polo – a game he loves and at which he has won several trophies.

Frank Koo
Head of Asia, Talent & Learning Solutions, LinkedIn

Frank Koo is the Head of Asia at LinkedIn, responsible for LinkedIn’s Talent and Learning business. Frank’s organization supports companies in talent acquisition, development and retention through the LinkedIn platform and solutions.

Prior to LinkedIn, Frank was the Chief Operating Officer of BE Education. He has also held leadership roles in Pearson Education where he was President of Learning Solutions in APAC, and Oracle where he was Managing Director for Singapore and South Asia Growth Economies.
Guy Mills
Chief Executive Officer, Manulife (International) Limited

Guy Mills is Chief Executive Officer of Manulife (International) Limited, overseeing all Manulife’s businesses and distribution in Hong Kong and Macau, except mutual-funds business.

He is also a Director of the Board of both Manulife (International) Limited and Manulife Asset Management (Hong Kong) Limited. In addition, he is President and Chief Executive Officer of their holding company, Manulife International Holdings Limited.

Mr. Mills serves as Chairman of the Life Insurance Council (LIC) and a member of the Governing Committee at The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers. He is also a Member of the General Committee of the Employers’ Federation of Hong Kong.

Having joined Manulife Financial in 1995, Mr. Mills has more than two decades of practical experience with the company. He has held progressive technology and operations management roles within Manulife’s Canadian, Asian and Corporate divisions, including a two-year assignment in Tokyo, Japan, during the first half of his career with the firm.

In 2005, Mr. Mills relocated to the Philippines to head up Manulife’s Business Processing Services, the company’s global-resourcing capabilities facility, as its first Chief Executive Officer. He built a world-class global-resourcing practice of more than 2,000 employees located in Manila, Chengdu and Kuala Lumpur over his five-year tenure.

He was then appointed Chief Operating Officer of Manulife’s Asia Division, responsible for operations, customer service, brand development and communications across the region, before moving to Mainland China as CEO of Manulife-Sinochem, the company’s life-insurance joint venture headquartered in Shanghai.

Before emigrating to Canada and joining Manulife Financial, Mr. Mills held information-technology positions in the United Kingdom with Clerical Medical Investment Group and National Westminster Bank.

He holds an MBA degree from both University of Washington in St. Louis, US, and Fudan University in Shanghai, China.
Kosaku Kawai
President and Managing Director, Mitsubishi Corporation Hong Kong Limited

Mr. Kosaku Kawai was appointed President and Managing Director of Mitsubishi Corporation Hong Kong Limited in April 2019. He is also the General Manager of Mitsubishi’s Shenzhen Representative Office. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Tokyo and a Master’s degree from the University of Cambridge.

Mr. Kawai joined Mitsubishi Corporation in 1986, since then, he has dedicated himself on strategic corporate planning and business development. Previously, he was the Chief Representative in Beijing, Chairman and General Manager of Mitsubishi Corporation China Commerce Co., Ltd.
Eric Ma
Chief Executive Officer, NWS Holdings Limited

Ir Prof Ma is the Chief Executive Officer of NWS Holding Ltd. Before such, he was the Acting CEO of the Hong Kong Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park Limited and Principal Consultant of the Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks after his tenure as the Secretary for Development of the HKSAR Government overseeing policy areas ranging from urban planning to heritage conservation, with a focus on addressing the supply-demand imbalance for land and housing. Prior to working with the Government of the HKSAR, Ir Prof Ma was an Executive Vice-President of AECOM leading the civil and infrastructure business across the Asia-Pacific region. He is a fellow member of several professional bodies, including the Hong Kong Institutions of Engineers. He is an Honorary Professor of the Department of Real Estate and Construction, Faculty of Architecture of The University of Hong Kong. Ir Prof Ma was appointed as Justice of the Peace in 2014 and was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star by the Government of the HKSAR in 2017.

Yonden Lhatoo started his journalism career in print, covering the far-reaching changes Hong Kong went through before and during the city’s handover to China, as a senior newspaper reporter.

He switched to broadcast journalism after the transfer of sovereignty in 1997 and worked as a television news anchor and editor for nearly two decades. He was the main anchor and editor-in-chief of ATV’s English news department until April 2015, when he joined the South China Morning Post as a senior editor.

Apart from his editorial duties as chief news editor now, he regularly moderates forums and seminars on current affairs for the Post, and has extensive experience covering Hong Kong’s economic, political and social landscape. He has publicly written, spoken and taught about Hong Kong issues, but is still trying to figure it all out.

NiQ Lai
Group Chief Executive Officer, Hong Kong Broadband Network Limited

NiQ Lai is Co-Owner and Group Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Broadband Network Limited (HKBN). Mr. Lai joined HKBN in May 2004. He has rich experience in the telecommunications, research and finance industries, and is passionate about developing talent within HKBN because he believes that if you get the people part right, the company will succeed. HKBN’s core purpose is to “Make our Hong Kong a better place to live” and is managed on the “3P” formula of “Purpose + Passion = Profit”

Prior to joining HKBN, Mr. Lai was an analyst and then Director and Head of Asia Telecom Research for Credit Suisse, where he was involved in numerous global fund raising initiatives for Asian telecom carriers. Mr. Lai holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Western Australia, and an Executive Master of Business Administration Degree from Kellogg-HKUST, Hong Kong. In his youth, NiQ wanted to be a professional tennis player but was not very good, and so he became an accountant instead. He is a Fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) and CPA Australia. In March 2016, he was recognized as the Best CFO by Finance Asia’s survey of Asia's Best Companies 2016 (Hong Kong).
Wilson Kwong
Chief Executive
Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited

Wilson joined the Jardine Matheson Group in 1998, and had worked with Jardine Aviation Services until 2005 when he was appointed Executive Assistant to the Jardine Matheson Group Managing Director. In 2006, he moved to Hongkong Land and, in 2009, was appointed Chief Executive Officer of its Singapore-based joint venture company, Raffles Quay Asset Management. He took up his new post as Chief Executive of Hactl in February 2018. Prior to joining Hactl, Wilson was Chief Executive of Jardine Engineering Corporation (JEC).

Wilson is a Vice Chairman of the Employers’ Federation of Hong Kong and the Environment and Sustainability Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce respectively. He is also a Member of the Energy Advisory Committee and a Co-opted Member of the Hospital Governing Committee of Queen Mary Hospital and Tsan Yuk Hospital, as well as a Council Member of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre. Wilson is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, and a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Wilson graduated from the London School of Economics with a B.Sc. in Economics. He subsequently received his MBA from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, a Master in Real Estate from the College of Estate Management, University of Reading (UK), and a Juris Doctor degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Adrian Worth
Managing Director, IKEA Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan

Adrian Worth has more than 40 years retailing experience in the fields of both FMCG and home furnishings having worked in Europe, South Africa and since 2007 in various Asian markets. Since 1992 Adrian has worked with IKEA, initially as a store manager in the UK before moving to the distribution division for several years and eventually transferring back to the retail side of the business in 2008. Currently managing director of the IKEA business in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Adrian was recently responsible for the merger of the Hong Kong and Taiwan organisations to bring together the two teams to operate as a single entity. Adrian lives in Taipei with his South Korean wife Yoon.

Adrian Worth spent nearly 20 years working in the FMCG sector in the UK and South Africa prior to joining IKEA in 1992. After 8 years IKEA store management experience Adrian joined the team managing the distribution of IKEA goods throughout Western Europe and was also a member of the project team who established the IKEA on-line presence in the UK in 2006. Upon relocating to Asia in 2007 Adrian joined the IKEA team in Japan as IKEA was entering that market and spent six years based in Tokyo working with both the distribution and retail businesses. Following Japan came a brief spell establishing a new team in Singapore who connected suppliers with IKEA stores and organised the flow of goods to IKEA markets throughout Asia Pacific. From Singapore Adrian joined Hong Kong based Dairy Farm International in 2014 to take up the position of General Manager for the IKEA business in Taiwan and more recently Adrian was responsible for the merger of the Hong Kong and Taiwan organisations to bring together the two teams to operate as a single entity and is now managing director of the newly formed business unit. With a keen interest in all things retail Adrian is a particularly strong believer that regardless if it’s running a store, a distribution centre, buying or marketing, it’s always, always people who make the difference. Adrian lives in Taipei with his South Korean wife Yoon and the family cat.
Cary Shek
Senior Director, People & Culture, Klook

As Klook’s Senior Director for People and Culture, Cary oversees the company’s people strategies in more than 20 offices globally. Her primary role is to put together a robust organizational structure that consistently delivers outstanding results in a fast-paced environment like Klook. Apart from handling core HR functions, she also ensures that the organization’s increasingly-sophisticated needs are met, which involves assessing the capabilities and anticipating the rapid evolution of the company. Cary is leading an Office Experiences team as well, which focuses on the well-being of all Klook staff members and maintaining a collaborative and entrepreneurial company culture across all offices.

Before joining Klook, Cary was the Director of People & Culture for Publicis Groupe in Hong Kong and the strategic business partner of their senior management team. She also previously occupied a couple of regional roles in different global organizations such as Oxford University Press and Travelzoo, a NASDAQ-listed global online travel media company, where she helped build and expand the startup team in the APAC region.

Outside of the office, Cary spends her leisure time cooking and practicing aromatherapy. As an avid traveler, Cary enjoys exploring various types of activities and learn about the local culture.

Barrett Bingley is the Director, Media Sales (North Asia) and Asia Initiatives and has been with The Economist Group for 7 years. In his practice he has developed the Sustainable Trade Index for the Hinrich Foundation, the Illicit Trade Index for TRACIT and conducted major trade research projects for HSBC, National Australia Bank and Commonwealth Bank.

In addition to his work at the Group, he has been the Chair of the AmCham Hong Kong Trade and Investment Committee for 6 years, serving on the Committee for a total of 8 years thus far. He was also a Board Director of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong for 4 years. Barrett has recently joined the Society of Publishers Asia (SOPA) as a Board Director.

Prior to coming to Hong Kong, Barrett was the Senior Policy Advisor to the Canadian Foreign Minister and before that the Policy Advisor to the Trade Minister with a focus on Asia.

Barrett is a Commonwealth Scholar and holds Master’s Degree in International Relations from the Victoria University of Wellington. Barrett was a Visiting Fellow at the Indonesian Centre for Strategic and International Studies, publishing on trade, piracy and terrorism in the South China Sea.

Roger Steel has over 35 years of experience in senior roles in the insurance and consulting industry. He has worked in Hong Kong for 19 of the last 24 years, in both country CEO and regional roles in life insurance and pensions. He has served on the boards of companies in Hong Kong, mainland China and Malaysia. As a former partner of a “Big Four” accounting and advisory firm, he has led major consulting projects and relationships across the region. Roger has served as Chief Executive/President/Executive Chairman of four life insurance companies in three countries. In his most recent role, he held regional responsibility for the growth strategies of a major life insurer across seven countries, covering digital strategy, distribution, bancassurance, partnerships, marketing and mergers and acquisitions.

Managing Director, Portwood Capital Limited

A resident of Hong Kong since 1980, Peter Churchouse has been actively involved in Asian capital markets as a consultant, financial advisor, practitioner and investor for more than 35 years and is widely experienced in Asian and global financial markets, with particular focus on hard asset markets. He spent more than 15 years at Morgan Stanley where he was Managing Director, regional strategist, analyst and Head of Research, before establishing a fund investing in Asian real estate and real estate securities.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Peter established and ran a research department and consultancy function for international property consultants, Jones Lang Wootton (now Jones Lang Lasalle) in Hong Kong. In the early 1980’s he was Project Manager for the planning and design of Tin Shui Wai new town and also involved in Planning of Tseung Kwan O new town. In the late 1970’s he worked with renowned urban economic consultant, Professor Nathaniel Lichfield, based in London.

Peter is an Independent Non-Executive Director of Hong Kong listed mainland developer Longfor Group Holdings Ltd (960 HK), and long established property investment company, Hysan Development (14 HK). He is a Director of Asian Property Services Limited in Hong Kong.

Peter is currently the Chairman of Portwood Company Limited, a family office with activities in real estate, real estate asset management, private equity, technology, self storage and listed securities.

Peter continues to be a commentator on Asian economies, financial markets and property for TV (CNBC, CNN, Bloomberg, BBC), radio and print media. He published “The Churchouse Letter”, an independent economic and “hard asset” focused research publication for a number of years.

For a number of years he has been Chairman of the Economic Policy Committee and the Real Estate and Infrastructure Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce.

A native of New Zealand, Peter attended Waikato University where he gained a BA and an M Soc Sc in economics.

Tommy Fan

Founder & Managing Director, Pan Asian Mortgage Company

Leland is Managing Director of Pan Asian Mortgage Company, an innovative non-banking financial services company specializing in residential mortgage financing in Hong Kong.

Leland was appointed by the Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR Government as the first Chief Operating Officer of the Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation (HKMC). Previously, Leland was a Senior Managing Director, Bear Stearns Asia Ltd. and an Executive Director, Goldman Sachs (Asia) Ltd.

He is an independent non-executive director of Chevalier International Holdings Ltd (25) and Quanzhou Huixin Micro-Credit Co. Ltd. (1577), both listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. In addition, Leland is Chairman, Audit Committee and an independent non-executive director of Mizuho Securities Asia Ltd.

Currently, Leland is Vice Chairman, Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC); Executive Committee Member and Treasurer, Servicemen’s Guides Association. Previously, he was the President of The American Club in Hong Kong; past Treasurer and Board of Governor, The American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.

Leland was elected as one of the 1,200 members of the 2017 Hong Kong Election Committee (Commercial First Subsector) which selected Hong Kong’s current Chief Executive.

Leland graduated from the UCLA Anderson School of Business with a MBA (Finance) – recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Alumni Service Award and recognized as one of the 100 Most Inspirational Alumni. He is also a Board member of the Fink Center for Finance & Investments and UCLA Asia Advisory Council member.

Leland was born in Hong Kong and is fluent in Putonghua.

Connie Lam

Director, Human Resources, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited

Connie Lam is Director-Human Resources at CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, which operates a vertically integrated electricity supply business and provides a highly reliable supply of electricity and excellent customer service to six million people in a supply area that includes Kowloon, New Territories and most of the outlying islands.

She is responsible for building employer’s brand, as well as developing and delivering human resources strategies, infrastructure and programmes that enable a stronger innovation culture, and up-skill the company’s workforce to meet changing business needs and technology disruptions. Ms Lam has over 30 years of HR experience and held a number of leadership roles in the areas of organisation and talent development, strategic manpower planning, cultural change management, digital transformation, remuneration and benefits, employee relations and engagement, and governance and risk management.

She holds a MBA degree and a BS degree in government and public administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
