Hong Kong SMEs are lustre of pearl. Although small, they are bright and they make Hong Kong, the Pearl of the Orient, shine.

Denis Lee
Chairman
SME Award Steering Committee
The recent economic turmoil has brought new challenges to the small and medium enterprises (SME). With rapid changes in the operating environment, companies in Hong Kong are reassessing and repositioning themselves in order to stay ahead in the increasingly competitive markets both domestically and abroad. Adversity aside, there has also been the opening up of fresh and exciting opportunities. Innovation, technology, quality and productivity have become the buzzwords of the new millennium and I am pleased to note that these qualities are shared by many of the Award entrants.

The Steering Committee is proud to be involved in this prestigious scheme to recognise the achievements of Hong Kong's finest SMEs. My congratulations to all the winners who I hope will inspire others to emulate their success.
